Hemis is a town famous for the Hemis Gompa (monastery) and the Hemis Festival. The greatest Tibetan monastery in the Ladakh region is Hemis Monastery, which is located at a height of 12000 feet. When visiting Leh Ladakh, it is one of the monasteries that visitors most frequently visit. It is one of the main Ladakh tourist attractions and is located on a mountain on the west bank of the Indus River, barely 45 kilometres from the town of Leh.
One of the most well-known and popular religious festivals observed in Leh, Ladakh, is the Hemis Festival. This festival commemorates the anniversary of the birth of Lord Padmasambhava, the creator of Tibet Tantric Buddhism.
Hemis offers a lot of monasteries to explore Buddhist culture and religion. You may make the most of your stay with the Indus Valley Tour by touring the several monasteries that are scattered around the region, including the stunningly imposing and mystical Thiksey Monastery and Shey Monastery. Leh’s small village paths are a great place to take a stroll in the evening to unwind and prepare for the next leg of the journey.
Hemis also houses the infamous school of Rancho from 3 Idiots. The place is very frequently visited by film enthusiasts.
The journey also includes a visit to the Shanti Stupa in Ladakh. It was erected in 1991 as a Peace Pagoda project by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura. The 14th Dalai Lama housed the Buddha’s relics at the base of the Shanti Stupa. The stupa’s popularity as a tourist destination is owing to both its religious significance and its strategic location, which offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.

To experience Hemis to its fullest, we will be limiting ourselves to delicious local meals. For the non-vegetarians, we would be adopting the dry meat culture and also trying underground meat. Apricot here is the best around the globe. Fields also have fresh cabbage, tomatoes, and lettuce.
It is mandatory for everyone on the trip to have the Government of India issue certificates of the first dose, a second dose and a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccinations supplied by any well-known and reputed company.
The high altitudes may cause acute mountain sickness. They are common and mild, but some cases can be life-threatening. Symptoms include nausea, headache, shortness of breath and inability to exercise. Severe cases might require oxygen, and medications and move to lower altitudes.
